Training and skills for sustainability

Lantra is committed to ensuring sustainability is at the heart of relevant training in Scotland, with carbon reduction and climate management skills initiatives becoming key to the land-based and aquaculture sector.

We work with partners to continually develop, enhance, and increase the scope of accessible training opportunities for all.

The sector offers many career opportunities to a wide-ranging audience, and the need to gain green skills is clear. To help fill skills gaps, make sustainable improvements, and future-proof businesses, Lantra Scotland is working with The Scottish Government and SkillSeeder. We are making funding for ‘green’ training accessible by supporting individuals to improve their skills in relation to climate change.

Find out more about courses that are eligible for funding through the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Practical Training Fund, to ensure sustainability within your business, from SkillSeeder here.

We recently held a Skills Briefing Event, “Practical Skills Solutions for a Changing Climate”, which showcased best practice, successes, barriers faced, funding opportunities, apprenticeships, upskilling and reskilling our workforce.

We also hosted a discussion around the skills that are needed to ensure we can make a "just transition" towards an environmentally sustainable economy. The collaborative event gave a voice to those in various land-based, aquaculture and environmental conservation industries, to share their expertise, concerns and sustainable approaches for the future.
