Aileen Buchanan

On graduating Aileen joined SAC in 1988 as a Rural Development Adviser for Uist and Barra. In 1989 she changed to be a general agricultural consultant, moving to Elgin in 1995, and has been in this role since. At the end of 1999 Aileen was promoted to Senior Consultant & Area Manager taking on office management responsibilities in addition to her consultancy.
Aileen is FBAASS accredited, and BASIS and FACTS registered. She works with over 90 individual farmers, groups and other rural businesses. She has been involved in the setting up and running of a number of producer groups. Over the years Aileen has built up excellent contacts and skills in information gathering, recording and analysing and has an excellent knowledge of the agricultural sector and the challenges and issues it faces.

In addition to running the office which has a team of 7, Aileen is involved in a wide range of consultancy work including livestock management, farm business management, completion of IACS, ILMPs, AECS, Carbon Audits, NVZ, a range of other business plans and grant applications and has a particular interest and knowledge in organic farming and paragraph 7 exemptions.

Aileen has also set up and facilitates the N E Organic Discussion Group as well as organising and running numerous other meetings.
