Emma completed a Modern Apprenticeship in trees and timber and now works for Forest Enterprise Scotland in Dumfries and Galloway as a recreational craftsperson. She is a Lantra Scotland industry champion and former overall winner of Lantra’s learner of the year awards.
“I take great pride in the positive impact my role has on the environment and the wider public. I really enjoy seeing the forest changing over time, from clearance to ground preparation, planting, looking after the trees and monitoring their health, to harvesting and back to ground preparation and starting the process over again.
I like to think that the work I undertake from micro to landscape level is establishing woodlands for future generations and the forest industry.”
