Michael works as an Agricultural Engineer and won the Land-based Engineering category in Lantra’s Learner of the Year Awards 2016.

“Having grown up around the agricultural industry, I’d always been interested in how farm machinery worked, so it made sense to choose agriculture engineering as a career.

I repair and maintain land-based machines and equipment like tractors and implements using a variety of skills. There’s a lot of manual work, but there’s also the electronic side where you run diagnostics using computers.

The most rewarding part is fixing a completely dead machine then watching it being driven out the door again. It’s great to go home at night proud of what you’ve accomplished.”
