Finalists at Lanta Scotland's learner of the year awards.

With the closing date for nominations to Lantra Scotland’s Land-based and Aquaculture Learner of the Year Awards fast approaching, employers, teachers and training providers across the sector are all being encouraged to put their nominations in before the deadline of Friday 9th November.

An independent panel of judges will then shortlist the finalists, with winners announced at a prestigious ceremony in the DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro in March.

Open to learners in agriculture, aquaculture, equine, fisheries management, environmental conservation, game and wildlife, horticulture, trees and timber and land-based engineering, the awards are now in their 16th year of celebrating the achievements of Scotland’s top trainees.

A spokesperson for Lantra Scotland said: “People who have been nominated for our awards before have told us what a difference it can make to their lives, not only for boosting their confidence, but also for the recognition they get from peers and employers.

“It’s great for them as individuals but it’s also important for employers to see the value of investing in training and skills development.

“We had some exceptional finalists and winners last year, so are looking forward to seeing even more of the same in our 2019 awards.”
