A new survey of young people living in rural locations shows that 72% feel optimistic about their future despite the challenges of transport, access to services, employment and connectivity. The Rural Youth Project survey report looks at the opinions of over 750 young people living or working in rural areas in the UK, Australia, Canada, Sweden and the United States.
The project was initiated by rural and agricultural communications specialists, Jane Craigie Marketing, to find out more about the opinions and attitudes of 18-28-year-olds. The results will go on to inform wider industry and policy-makers, supporting the future of young people in the rural economy.
In addition to the online survey, the Rural Youth Project includes vlogging by young people around the world sharing their experiences and aspirations, and the Rural Youth Ideas Festival, both of which will develop the core survey research. The festival takes place from 1st to 3rd August, with 110 young people from rural places in nine countries attending.
