Be a Farmer...

Be a Farmer Day

We would be delighted if you could join us at the ‘Be a Farmer Day’ at SRUC Aberdeen Campus, on Wednesday 12th June 2024. The event will highlight the range of careers and skills involved in agriculture and aims to create positive perceptions amongst pupils about opportunities within the industry.

This is a follow-up to a similar event that was held in Dumfries last year and is being organised by the Skills for Farming Group – a partnership of agricultural and skills organisations within Scotland.

Format for the day is that pupils from local secondary schools will visit SRUC for practical experiences and information sessions. Previous events have been very popular with schools, and we have had to expand activities on offer to accommodate everyone.

If you are a local business and book before the deadline, there is no charge to take part.

You can have a table and stall space in the main hall to promote careers within your business over the lunch break (pupils will move freely around the hall), or you can run more hands-on sessions in timed slots throughout the day.

Please confirm your choice before 30th April, as that will give us enough time to ensure that everyone has a space that suits their needs.

We hope that you will be able to join us at ‘Be a Farmer Day’ to and keep the momentum going and to inspire the next generation of talent.

If you can’t attend but would still like to sponsor or support the event in a different way, please email us.

We have lots of info on agriculture courses, careers and qualifications or you could find out more about the Pre-Apprenticeship programme at Tarff Valley, or agriculture courses with Scotland's Rural College.
