I have gathered together a wealth of knowledge and expertise over 40 years of practical farm management. During these years I have managed a wide variety of enterprises including dairy, beef, sheep, pigs, arable and tourism. From 1984-2001 I managed the in-hand farms for the Duke of Buccleuch on the Queensberry Estate in Dumfriesshire. Since then I have been farming on my own account and  helped to establish Cara Consultants Ltd. Cara specialise in providing sound practical advice to farmers and rural businesses who value thoughts that are relevant, ideas that are realistic and plans that are achievable.
I am a qualified arbiter and specialise in tenancy and succession issues. I have been involved in Whole Farm Reviews from the outset.
