James Orr
James is currently an Agricultural Consultant with SAC Consulting and is based at Auchincruive, Ayr.
He previously studied at SRUC Edinburgh campus where he gained a BSc(Hons) in Agriculture. The aim of his dissertation was to find the least costly method of controlling Gastro intestinal nematodes in weaned lambs with various levels of anthelmintic resistance. He is now studying for an MSc in Agricultural Professional practice.
James manages around 110 clients, predominately in Ayrshire and Renfrewshire. His work include completing IACS/Single Application Forms, technical consultancy, grant scheme application work.
James is experienced in the completion of Farm Waste Management Plans, AECs slurry store applications, Carbon Audits and Integrated Land Management Plans. He is involved in developing and delivering a range of Farm Advisory Service (FAS) Meetings across his area. James has excellent interpersonal skills and is able to work with farmers both on a 1: 1 and group basis.
His main areas of interest include livestock production systems, alternative livestock, soil health and grassland management.
