Studying for a business qualification allows you to develop a broad understanding of business organisations and provides more detailed knowledge in areas such as markets, customers, finance, operations, communication, information technology and business policy and strategy.
Transferable skills include analytical and critical thinking, a creative approach to problem solving, decision-making, persuasive written and oral communication and numeracy and the ability to research, interpret and use business and financial data.
Options range from specific short training courses from SCQF Level 4, such as Microsoft applications or business behaviours, to degree and postgraduate level qualifications. Colleges can also meet specific business needs and develop bespoke training courses. While some may not seem relevant to land-based industries, a qualification that provides commercial skills or knowledge about other business functions can be helpful to the growth of a land-based business.
